Safiya's first poetry film 'The Entertainer II' in collaboration with RouteThirtySix which explores unhealthy expectations of Black women within the entertainment industry. Themes which will be further explored in Safiya's upcoming collection to be released with Out-Spoken Press, 2022.
PLASTERED HEART, AUGUST

As part of Safiya's prize for winning The New Voice of Poetry Prize, Safiya recorded two poems in collaboration with Culture Recordings as part of The Soundscape Poetry Project, which paired bespoke audio landscapes with spoken word.
'Plastered Heart, August', is set in a city devastated by the pandemic, but amongst the chaos a small piece of art brings hope. Safiya wrote this poem shortly after losing close friends at the beginning of the pandemic.
